How to build a social innovation ecosystem?

Binoculars
Change

Problem:   There is a need for holistic and systemic way to solve complex social problems.  This means that we often approach these problems in a piecemeal way, which can make it difficult to achieve lasting solutions.

Solution:  The SIEB program helps to build a social innovation ecosystem, which is a network of individuals and organizations working together to solve complex social problems. This ecosystem provides the structures, processes, and resources needed to develop and implement innovative, practical, and sustainable solutions.

Benefit:   SIEB program increases capacity for social innovation, enhances ability of SIEBs to lead and manage social innovation projects, and makes a positive impact on the lives of people in Ethiopia.

  • Establishing a Social Innovation Ecosystem (SIE) in every village can create a platform for fostering social innovation and driving community development.

  • A social innovation ecosystem is modeled after the natural ecosystem, where living and non-living components are interconnected in a meaningful way to create positive synergy in addressing complex social issues.

  • The goal of learning to design for Social Innovators is to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to design effective project proposals for addressing complex social issues.
